Project Overview
Picme have been working with Lundbeck, the Seal Sands based active pharmaceuticals ingredients manufacturer, since early in 2006. The initial benchmark and manufacturing assessment identified a number of potential improvement opportunities in terms of waste reduction, potential capacity improvement and increasing the involvement of operators and maintenance staff in process improvement activities.
The masterclass improvement activity was tasked with reducing production waste streams and energy usage and also investigating maintenance spend for the production facility. Working through the Picme approach, the improvement team investigated, identified and implemented improvements in the target areas.
Further to the masterclass a diagnostic focusing on the technical aspects of the process has been completed. This identified additional potential opportunities for Lundbeck including process characterisation and knowledge management.
